written by Sudheer Satyanarayana on 2021-12-18

The error when bringing up a Vagrant guest:

==> default: Installing SSHFS client...
==> default: Clearing any previously set forwarded ports...
==> default: Removing domain...
The following SSH command responded with a non-zero exit status.
Vagrant assumes that this means the command failed!

yum -y install --enablerepo=PowerTools fuse-sshfs

Stdout from the command:

Stderr from the command:

Error: Unknown repo: 'PowerTools'

The cause

CentOS renamed their repository to powertools. It was named PowerTools before. This change broke Vagrant SSHFS plugin. This has been resolved in the latest vagrant-sshfs release. But Ubuntu repositories still has the older version of vagrant-sshfs plugin.

Upgrade the vagrant-sshfs plugin manually.

vagrant plugin install vagrant-sshfs --plugin-version '1.3.6'
